About

Carlos is a Peruvian-American artist born and raised in New York City. He comes from a family of talented artists; father a commercial artist, mother a fine art dealer, his oldest brother an illustrator, and his other brother a fine photographer. However, Carlos went on to earn his MBA in Finance and Investments at Baruch College. After several years of working financial and consulting jobs, he was incredibly fortunate to pursue his passion for painting, drawing and composition at the Art Student’s League’s ateliers in New York City, mentored by fine artists Cornelia Foss, Mary Beth McKenzie, and Bruce Dorfman. Carlos is a prolific artist working out of his studio in Brooklyn, New York, completing in the past three months seven works in oil and 15 on paper. In this time period, he painted outdoor subjects, models, and still lifes working in various media that include charcoal, gouache, acrylic and oil on paper and canvas. His show experience includes not only numerous group and solo shows in the past 6 months (i.e., Shangri-La in LIC and the National Arts Club Roundtable Exhibition) but also curating group shows (i.e., Island of Misfit Artists at the Adrian Helen Art Salon, NYC) and organizing his own pop-up shows (i.e., Windows Painting Exhibition at 3 Lincoln Center, NYC). He has also been published twice in the Art Students League Catalog (2014 and 2012) and currently serves as Mr. Dorfman’s Teaching Assistant in his class Combined Media, Assemblage Art in Three Dimensions, and Painting.
