Luiza Kurzyna observes nature and reimagines the relationships of plants and animals, creating wearable objects or hybrid puppet creatures for interactive role-play. She received her BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and her MFA from Brooklyn College. Her work has been included in group shows at Glasslands Gallery (2014), Streb Warehouse (2014), both in Brooklyn; the New Britain Museum of American Art, CT (multiple years); Denise Bibro Gallery, NY (2012), and Artspace, Hew Haven, CT (2011), among others. She has completed residencies at Ox-Bow, Saugatuck, MI (2014), I-Park Foundation, East Haddam, CT (2013), among others. She is a recipient of the 2015 BRIC Media Fellowship. Luiza has taught at Sacred Heart School in New Britain CT, Our Piece of the Pie in Hartford, and at Brooklyn College. She currently teaches at Parsons the New School for Design and at Time-In.
