Rebecca was born in Peoria, Illinois and moved to Tanzania, East Africa at age seven. She served in the Peace Corps from 2008 until 2011, which was her first exposure to American culture as an adult. Rebecca moved to the U.S. in 2011, and started experimenting with painting as a way to communicate her feelings and observations around how society and culture impact a person's sense of self. She is drawn to abstract oil painting as a way to capture and communicate the emotions surrounding these themes. As Robert Henri said, "Art cannot be separated from life. It is the expression of the greatest need of which life is capable...We value art not because of the skilled product, but because of its revelation of a life's experience." Rebecca lives in Rockaway Beach, where the two blues inspire her daily.
