Image work samples may be still images from films and/or production stills (your animation table, set building, etc). A video may be submitted via a third-party website (Youtube, Vimeo, etc.) and submitted in a link format in the application in the appropriate area. We recommend you submit a video of at least one video work sample with cue points and a separate printed script that corresponds to the submitted video.

In addition to the application materials above, applicants must provide studio size preference, location preference, specific studio needs, and income level in the designated areas on the application.

Specific Requirements and Restrictions

There is no set residency period for chashama’s workspace program. chashama holds a month to month lease with all property owners, which means chashama may be asked to leave the space with a month's notice. Nevertheless, chashama has held studios in some locations for over ten years. Due to the temporary nature of chashama's workspace, all studio agreements between the artist and chashama are month to month. Artists who are in good standing with chashama have the option to renew their studio agreement every year and artists may withdraw from the program at any time upon giving one month’s notice.

        - There is a $5 processing fee which may be paid electronically upon submission of the application.
        - Participating artists will be required to pay a fully refundable $300 deposit on the space.
        - If you are applying for project workspace for a specific length of time, please include this timeframe in your studio needs description.
        - Welding, work that requires use of fire or heat guns, or work that creates airborne particulate matter is not allowed. If your work samples are
of this type of work, please describe how your future projects may differ. For a full list of materials prohibited from chashama Workspace, please
           refer to this pdf.
        - Application materials will not be returned. Incomplete, faxed or emailed applications will not be reviewed. chashama is not responsible for lost or misdirected applications.

Notification

Workspace applications are reviewed in order of submission as space becomes available. Given the high volume of applications we receive and the low turnover rate, the waiting period for Workspace can range from one to three years.

Applicants should receive a confirmation email upon submitting the application indicating we have received the application. If you do not receive a confirmation email, please contact the chashama office. After the initial confirmation email, chashama will not contact the applicant until there is an appropriate space available. (No news does not mean your application has been lost.) If an application is rejected, the applicant will be notified. Viable applications will remain on file for at least two years in the event that an appropriate space becomes available in the future. Please keep this timeline in mind when applying.
